AGUA CALIENTE BAND OF CAHUILLA INDIANS TO REDEVELOP HOTEL
Palm Springs-based Spa Resort Casino Hotel targeted for upgrades
PALM SPRINGS, Calif., December 1, 2006 The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has filed formal paperwork under the Tribal Environmental Policy Act to begin the process of redesigning its Spa Resort Casino Hotel in downtown Palm Springs. The Notice of Intent marks a multi-year process that will result in the construction of a new hotel with commercial and entertainment space that promises to expand the existing property and revitalize the location.
The project will involve the demolition of the existing 228-room Spa Hotel and its replacement by a new 420-room hotel, along with a new fitness center and spa, and 46,000 square-foot showroom. About 40,000 square feet of leaseable commercial space will also be developed and the existing Spa Resort Casino would be expanded by about 60,000 square feet."
